By John Carpenter USBC Bronze Coach
This will be the last issue of this article. The coach is retiring after 27 years. I can look back on my coaching career and remember so very many of the youths of Junior Bowling and Recently (6 years) of High School Bowling. It has been my HONOR to have helped our youth to become better Bowlers and a lot of the instruction crosses into real Life. Attitudes about bowling and attitudes about life in general coincide so often that separating them is hard. Be that as it may my time spent with our youngsters has been one of my greatest pleasures. Since 1981 at Grand Bowl, to Eastridge Lanes, Amarillo Bowl, and finishing my coaching career at Western Bowl. I would like to take a moment to thank all of the owners and operators of these establishments for allowing me to assist our young bowlers. I leave you all with this reminder, Bowling is always FUN if you learn something. Do your best and learn how to watch. How you think about your bowling will help others think about theirs. OOPS.....This is the one word that a lot of bowlers have heard me say for over 25 years. I tried to teach self-control as well as ,,shoulders straight, arm swing straight, feet straight, approach straight. These basics will never change. Releases change as the bowling equipment changes. Practice, Practice, Practice, is the best advice I can leave everyone with and a last THANK YOU for the privilege of working with our young bowlers...BYE... |
